Care Instructions

Care Symbols and Their Meaning

How to Care for Your Knitwear ?

Knitwear pieces — whether made of viscose, extra-fine merino wool, or Pima cotton — require delicate care to preserve their softness, structure, and radiance over time. Attentive maintenance will extend the life of your knit garments while retaining their luxurious appearance. Each of our products comes with specific care instructions tailored to its fibers and construction. We strongly encourage you to follow these guidelines to ensure your clothing stays in excellent condition. Below are our general recommendations for caring for the finest yarns.

Delicate Washing

To maintain the finesse and suppleness of your knitwear, we recommend either handwashing or machine washing in cold or lukewarm water (maximum 30°C / 86°F). Choose the wool or delicate cycle (30 minutes maximum), with low temperature and reduced spin (no more than 600 rpm).

Use a wool-specific detergent, free of enzymes and harsh agents, to avoid damaging the fiber structure. Do not use fabric softener, as it weighs down the knit and alters its natural drape. For optimal care, place the garment in a mesh laundry bag to reduce friction with the drum and prevent pilling or deformation.

Dry Cleaning for Delicate or Heavy Knitwear

Some delicate knits or bulky items should be dry-cleaned to preserve their condition. If dry cleaning is required, this will be clearly stated on the care label. This method helps remove dirt without exposing the fibers to risks like felting or distortion caused by water.

We recommend using a professional dry cleaner familiar with high-end textiles and gentle solvents. To reduce the frequency of professional cleaning, air your garments regularly after wearing to remove odors and dust.

Proper Drying Techniques

After washing, avoid wringing your knitwear. Gently press it between two clean towels to absorb excess water without distorting the fabric.

Always dry your garment flat on a clean, absorbent surface, away from direct sunlight and heat sources like radiators. This method helps retain the shape of the garment and avoids shrinking or stretching. Tumble drying is strictly prohibited, as it weakens fibers and shortens their lifespan.

Controlled Steaming and Ironing

To refresh the look of your knitwear without damaging it, use a steamer to gently relax the fibers. If ironing is needed, use the wool setting (120°C / 250°F) and place a damp cloth between the iron and the fabric.

An effective tip: hang your garment in a slightly humid room (like a bathroom after a hot shower). This allows for a natural and gentle wrinkle release, ideal for preserving the garment’s softness and texture.

Proper Storage

To avoid distortion, it’s best to fold knitwear neatly rather than hanging it. Hanging can stretch the fabric under its own weight and compromise its original shape.

Store knits in breathable cotton garment bags, which protect against external damage while allowing air circulation. To keep moths away and preserve freshness, place lavender sachets or cedarwood blocks in your wardrobe — both are known for their natural protective properties.

The Secret to Long-Lasting Knitwear

Over time, some knits may develop light pilling. To remove it gently without damaging the fibers, use a cashmere comb or a soft brush — these tools will restore the garment’s appearance with care.

Avoid prolonged contact with abrasive accessories like leather bags or belts, which can accelerate wear and encourage pilling.

By following these tips, your knitwear will maintain its beauty, softness, and structure season after season. With meticulous care, each piece becomes a timeless expression of elegance and an ongoing pleasure to wear.
